The building hasn't always been a hotel. Indeed, as you can see in these pictures, beginning of the 60s, it used to be the "greatest" grocery on the island in those times. A few years later, it also started to rent rooms and became bar, pastry shop and restaurant.
The hotel is located in Piano Quartara, a tableland above the harbor where traces of a small settlement (maybe one or a few huts) of the final stage of the Eneolithic period (last centuries of the IV-III millennium B.C.) were found. The Eolian cultural facies of this period was named after it: "Culture of Piano Quartara".
